College students often find themselves in situations where they don’t have access to an outlet for their laptops. Whether that’s because they’re away from their dorm or apartment, taking notes in class, or just looking for any excuse to avoid their homework, it can be difficult to find something with an extended battery life that doesn’t weigh several pounds and cost several hundred dollars. However, there are plenty of options out there—including some laptops specifically made with students in mind—that can help keep you on top of your deadlines even if you can’t get near an outlet.
1) Dell XPS 13
Featuring a top-of-the-line processor, long battery life, and tons of ports (including USB Type C), it's no wonder why some call it one of the best laptops on Amazon. The laptop can be purchased in either silver or rose gold and comes with an i7, 8GB RAM and a 128GB SSD/hard drive. This version of Dell XPS 13 weighs 2.9 pounds and comes equipped with Windows 10 Home software. The battery will last up to 15 hours on a single charge!
2) Apple MacBook Pro
The MacBook Pro is a very popular laptop. It offers a beautiful Retina display and an ergonomic keyboard that makes it great for college students. The MacBook Pro also has one of the longest battery lives on our list, at over 15 hours in mixed-use. That’s plenty of time to get some work done between classes! Its only downfall is its price, but you won’t regret buying a Mac once you experience it firsthand.
3) Microsoft Surface Laptop
Designed to fit in your backpack, yet powerful enough to get work done, Microsoft’s Surface Laptop runs Windows 10 S. However, you can switch to a full version of Windows 10 at any time if you like. According to iFixit, it has one of the longest-lasting batteries we’ve ever seen in a laptop. The base model offers a 13.5-hour battery life that can last up to 14 hours on more expensive models.
4) HP Spectre x360
The HP Spectre x360 is a high-end convertible laptop, available in either 13.3-inch or 15.6-inch screen sizes, that lasts an impressive 16 hours and 45 minutes on a single charge—in other words, longer than most workdays. The Spectre x360 also features HP Fast Charge, which promises 60 percent battery life in just 30 minutes of charging.
5) ASUS ZenBook UX330UA
This Ultrabook from ASUS boasts a 13.3-inch Full HD display and an 8th Gen Intel Core i7 processor. The battery life on it is absolutely incredible, clocking in at nearly 10 hours of normal usage.
